Academic Affiliation Agreement

1. To create an agreement based on the official UM Dearborn templates, first download the appropriate template and enter the required information. The type of agreement required depends on field experience. Below is an overview of each agreement and a description of when it should be used. The current templates can be found at the bottom of the page. Please note that each template contains areas that need to be customized before the agreement is sent to the site for review and/or signature. The following steps describe the process of creating and entering into these agreements: __ Instead, it participates in the Commonwealth Tort Claims Self-Insurance Program, which is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of General Services` Bureau of Risk and Insurance Management. The Program includes property, personnel and officials of the Commonwealth or University acting in the course of their employment, as well as claims arising out of the performance of the University under this Agreement, subject to the provisions of the Tort Claims Act, 42 Pa.C.S.A. §8521 et seq. · If this is unacceptable, no agreement may be reached. UM-Dearborn units are encouraged to use existing official UM-Dearborn models (see above) to conclude a national or international academic agreement (e.B affiliation, internship, student exchange). If none of the campus models are used for the purposes of your planned agreement, please contact Sheryl Kubiak for resources (sherylku@umich.edu, 313-593-5151). Many departments, schools, and colleges require or encourage students to complete clinical or field training as part of the program required for graduation.

This training experience is usually acquired in cooperation with an external body that agrees to participate in cooperation with the respective school or college. It is in the interest of both parties that a formal agreement be reached prior to the admission of students to such programs. From a risk management perspective, it is particularly beneficial for the university department to negotiate a contractual agreement that clearly defines the level of responsibility of the parties involved and aligns with our risk management objectives. There is an affiliation or clinic agreement between the university and an organization or location for the purpose of providing a clinical experience, rotation, internship or internship. Any experience experience (ELA) that requires the student to have professional liability insurance must use this type of agreement. Based on the advice of the university`s legal counsel, SRU programs/departments where field experience is completed should send a letter to the department that provides academic credits. For a list of items to include in the letter, see the ”Chord Templates” accordion below. This letter replaces all documents previously required for the on-campus field experience. If you have any questions about a specific articulation agreement, please contact the student advisory board of the respective university. There is a joint agreement between two educational institutions regarding the management of a joint degree or co-op university program rather than an internship or clinical experience. Students are encouraged to take advantage of one or more of the educational opportunities offered at the university before completing their degree. Some academic programs require students to complete one to meet the requirements of their major and must be approved by their academic advisor.

It is always a difficult situation. The best thing to do is to inform the affiliated institution that the university cannot waive its legal right to sovereign immunity. Clauses that require the university not to hold an affiliate legally liable for the acts or to reimburse the member for damages are strictly prohibited. These are commonly referred to as ”indemnification and inadmissibility clauses”. Alternatively, the language below is usually overridden and should be included as the default language in each affiliate agreement. This clause recognizes that each party has the right to seek all remedies available to it in accordance with the law. Since the law strictly prohibits certain legal disputes or the award of certain damages against the Commonwealth (sovereign immunity), the university is for the most part protected by law. The following language can be proposed as an alternative: you will be informed of the status of the agreement throughout the process.

When people come to campus to be part of a class and are supervised by SRU faculty and organization faculty, no affiliation agreement is required. It is recommended that each participant sign a waiver. No, as a general rule, an addendum is sufficient. There may be exceptions where a new agreement should be in writing. If a student is employed at the place of their work experience, a ”paid internship form” should be used instead of an internship agreement. An employee is subject to all work rules and receives a W-2 at the end of the year. Students who receive a scholarship are not considered employees. SRU uses a Uniform Clinical Education Affiliation Agreement based on the Uniform Clinical Education Affiliation Agreement published by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). The agreement consists of two parts: 1) SRU Clinical Model with Implementation Letter Instructions and 2) Implementation Letter. When a website accepts the clinical model as is, without revisions, it signs the SRU clinical model with the instructions in the implementation letter.

This document is a PDF and can be signed. If a website has revisions, they should be noted on the implementation letter, a Word document for easy editing. Once both parties have agreed to the revisions, the implementation letter must be saved in PDF format and signed. In addition, the SRU clinical model must be signed with the instructions of the implementation letter and submitted with the signed implementation letter. A customizable cover letter template that explains how to use the SRU clinical template with the implementation letter instructions and the implementation letter can be found with the templates. If SRU has an active agreement with an organization, but the agreement does not cover your program, an addendum can be added to the original contract. All additions must be reviewed and approved by the university`s legal counsel. Ideally, it should cover the entire university. If an agreement extends to the entire university, everyone involved in the process saves time and resources. However, we know that this is not always feasible.

The positions in a CHES agreement can differ significantly from those in COB, CLA and COE. If you are in COB, CLA or COE, please request the agreement that covers the entire non-clinical field experience. CHES programs should request that the agreement cover your college or applicable programs within the college. The current list of accession agreements contains the end date of the agreement and can be retrieved by the coordinator of the accession agreement. Students should explore our incomplete list of sites. For a more complete list, students can contact their major to see the full list. If an opportunity is not listed in our database or if the site does not have an active affiliate agreement, students should contact their academic advisor to see if such an agreement can be put in place. All credited internships must be approved by your academic advisor prior to the start of the internship. For websites for which students need liability insurance, SUNY takes out general and professional liability insurance. However, SUNY requires that a signed affiliation agreement be concluded first. This website provides a list of the most recent and up-to-date articulation agreements between the University of Michigan-Dearborn and other institutions.

For the purposes of this website, an ”articulation agreement” defines a relationship between the University of Michigan-Dearborn and another institution that makes it easier for students to transfer academic credits to that campus. Articulation agreements are at the discretion of the colleges and are subject to change. If your current institution does not have an articulation agreement, you can still transfer to the University of Michigan-Dearborn. .
